Summer School/Credit Recovery

Courses taken outside of HMSA may not be A-G approved to meet UC/CSU admissions requirements. Please use the UC Doorways website and check with your counselor to verify.

Opportunities for Learning

Summer school referrals are distributed in Spring. Procedure for completing a referral:

  1. Students can be referred for a maximum of (4) courses. Only classes with a letter grade of "D" or "F" or a course that has never been taken can be assigned.
  2. Complete the online pre-registration at http://preregistration.emsofl.com.
  3. Complete the front of the referral including parent signature and submit to Opportunities for Learning at address listed above. 
  4. Students are notified in early June if they will be accepted. 

OFL summer school typically runs from July 1 to late August. Students are required to meet with their OFL teacher twice a week and are allowed a maximum of (2) unexcused absences. Most students who work diligently are able to complete one class every 3 weeks for a total of (3) courses over the entire summer.

  3. Return the completed referral to Learn4Life at one of the preferred location listed above.
  4. Attend your scheduled Learn4Life orientation meeting.

Learn4Life summer school typically runs from July 1 to late August. Students are required to meet with their Mission View teacher twice a week and are allowed a maximum of (2) unexcused absences. Most students who work diligently are able to complete one class every 3 weeks for a total of (3) courses over the entire summer. 

 

Brigham Young University Independent Study

  • Students register for courses at elearn.byu.edu and select school code 051122
  • Courses are $152 per semester courses and BYU Scholarship Applications are available
  • Counselors will not process scholarship applications for students if they have an alternative option available to them that is free. 

 

Emerson Adult Learning Center

  • Students should see their counselor for a referral
  • All students must take a placement test before enrolling which are held Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m.
  • Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Counselors will not complete referrals for students during the school year unless they can demonstrate grades of 70% in their current courses
